A DOWNE pub was put in the national spotlight after high-profile politician and regular punter Nigel Farage boldly stated everyone in his local was against gay marriage.
The Westerham resident and UKIP leader has been criticised in the national press for replacing politics with "bar-room philosophy" because he said regulars at the George & Dragon were "completely against" gay marriage.
But while the Telegraph lambasted him for "forming a world view" from his local, the owner of the pub in question has defended his customers' comments.
