Road closures in Downe on 21, 25 and 27 August 2015
"Rookery Road closed on Friday 21 August 2015 between 0930 and 1530
Traffic will be diverted via Shire Lane, North End Lane, Rookery Road. The closure will be in place between 0930-1530, although works may finish sooner and road re-opened earlier. The R8 bus route will be unaffected. The 146 bus will not serve Downe but will provide a service to/from Leaves Green Road.
Access will be provided as best as possible to residents from either side of closure but is closed to through traffic. The operatives will be starting at the North End Lane junction end of Rookery Road first and working their way up towards the junction of New Road Hill, therefore access will be provided via the New Road Hill end of Rookery Road at the beginning of the day and will reverse to the other end as the workmen work their way up Rookery Road. Please be aware that there may be delays for residents who are trying to gain access.
North End Lane
Closed on Tuesday 25 August 2015 between 0930 and 1530
Traffic will be diverted via Shire Lane, New Road Hill, Rookery Road. The closure will be in place between 0930-1530, although works may finish sooner and road re-opened earlier. The R8 bus route will be on diversion during this closure and will not serve any of North End Lane whilst the closure is in place.
The closure will be between the junctions of Rookery Road and Mill Lane, starting at the Rookery Road junction, with the workmen then working their way up towards Mill Lane. Once again access will be provided as best as possible to residents either side of the closure but is closed to through traffic. Please be aware that there may be delays for residents who are trying to gain access.
Luxted Road closed on Thursday 27 August 2025 between 0930 and 1530
Traffic will be diverted via Rookery Road, New Road Hill, Downe Road, Leaves Green Road, Main Road, Jail Lane, Single Street. The closure will be in place between 0930-1530, although works may finish sooner and road re-opened earlier. The R8 bus route will be on diversion during this closure and will not serve any of Luxted Road, Single Street or Jail Lane. It will be diverted via Leaves Green Road and will then serve Downe Village before resuming its usual route and serving North End Lane like usual.
Access will be provided as best as possible to residents from either side of closure but is closed to through traffic. The operatives will be starting at the Single Street end of Luxted Road and working their way up towards Downe’s High Street. Please be aware that there may be delays for residents who are trying to gain access."
